Long days, sunrises and sunsets, weary legs, challenging pathways, inspiring moments, physical limits, personal achievement, sunscreen in my eye, emotional connection, sore feet, unforgettable memories, burning calves (that's my legs not baby cows), Spanish cuisine, long conversations, silent walks, one foot in front of the other, every step taken for an important cause …

This is all part of an amazing opportunity I have to support some incredible women.

Janelle’s El Camino Challenge 2016

I leave for Spain on Friday 13 May 2016 to trek 112kms (yes, that's 112kms!) along the El Camino trail from Sarria to Santiago. With me will be an inspiring group of 29 breast cancer survivors and BCNA supporters.

The aim

• To raise much needed money and important awareness for BCNA.
• To be as fit as I can be so I can be a strong and useful member of my trekking team.

The challenge

El Camino Trek 2016.

This is no holiday!

I will be trekking on average 23 kms a day … for 5 days straight! The longest walking day is 28km!

My feet are already groaning!

This is easily the greatest physical challenge I have ever faced. But knowing it will help BCNA and the women we support makes me very determined.

Help me reach my target of $4000.

Every dollar you donate will go directly to BCNA so we can help more women and families affected by breast cancer.

For those in Australia, donations over $2 are tax deductable.

Every year 15,000 women and 145 men hear the life changing words, 'you have breast cancer'. Help BCNA to continue to support those affected by breast cancer to not have to travel that unwanted journey.

Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) – As most of you would know, in my work with BCNA I work with women who bravely share their breast cancer story – their fears, their insights, their pain, and their joys. With that privilege I am also witness to the positive and real impact that BCNA has for women and families affected by breast cancer. We talk about breast cancer being a journey. It is a journey – one that no one wants to take – but BCNA is here to help them decifer the foreign language, empower them to make informed choices of which road to take, connect them to the services they need and to friends who understand what if feels like to have their world turned upside down by breast cancer.
